Keeping in step with the SKX, those Seiko 5s are 42.5mm wide, so the new drop to 38mm is no small adjustment and, much like the recent Tudor Black Bay 54 (which is 37mm wide), these new Seiko 5s will offer a specific appeal to those who simply find the larger models to be, well, too large. Otherwise, the formula is unchanged, so you're not getting less by wanting a smaller watch. Seiko's just shrunk them down to suit both smaller wrists and to keep in step with the general trend towards smaller sports watches.
